As some of you know I'm a recording artist/composer/producer from Niagara Falls New York who now resides in Nashville Tennessee. I usually work several projects simultaneously with both local and long distance collaborations. The use of file sharing allows me to work with pretty much anyone in the world who has access to the internet.
My focus at this time is to compose music for licensing and synchronization purposes, and I usually do the complete productions from start to finish. I do a wide variety of projects ranging from symphonic works to rock, blues, jazz, and sometimes country.
I am open to new collaborations, but prefer to work with those at the pro level who can contribute with all aspects of the process from recording to pitching. I do occasionally take on projects with motivated less experienced writers/artists who demonstrate the capacity to learn quickly and work hard, but at this time I would only consider exceptionally talented candidates.
If you would like to inquire about a possible project please email me at johnpdurant@hotmail.com and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I expect that you'll have finished broadcast quality examples of your work for me to listen to upon request. Please do not send me any mp3's unless I request them. Unsolicited demos will be deleted immediately and our correspondence will end there.
It's best if you provide me with links to your music on your own website or on MySpace, Reverbnation, or other music promotion sites. This way there are no copyright infringement issues for me to deal with. If I like what I hear and see the potential for a good collaboration I'll get back to you.
I have to be sure that the project can work logistically, and that the business side of the equation looks good as well. Please don't be offended if your project request gets turned down. It doesn't mean that you don't have talent, it just means that I may be too busy to take on the project, or that maybe it's not a good match with what I bring to the table.
Make sure you visit my website to see what I do before you make any inquiries, and also understand that much of the music on the website is comprised of bits and pieces of projects and demos that are many years old. I can provide more recent examples of my work if I feel a collaboration or business opportunity may be worthwhile.
I stopped putting new finished masters on the web because of the ease in which full length digital recordings can now be recorded directly from my site and used without permission. Many countries don't respect US copyright laws and I can't afford to have folks use my work for free. This is something you may also want to consider when you put your music out there.
Thanks for stopping by!
