My wife and I went to see the professional bullriders in Nashville last night, and it was quite a show!! It's amazing that people make a living riding some of the meanest bulls in the world, and last night we saw just how dangerous this sport can be.
Shortly after the event started, one of the riders was viciously smashed in the head as he was thrown from the bull. He was immediately knocked unconscious, and before they could get the bull clear of the rider, the bull stomped on his chest. I have never seen a crowd that big grow so silent as the rider lay completely motionless on the ground before the medical team came to his aid.
Both my wife and I thought the rider might have been killed after seeing clearly how hard he was hit in the head and then stomped on the chest by a 2000 pound bull. They removed the rider from the arena so that the tournament could continue, and a little later in the show they announced that the rider suffered a concussion and would be OK.
After hearing the announcement we were able to recover from that traumatic scene and enjoy the rest of the competition. I can appreciate the courage and toughness of these cowboys, but find it hard to believe that they do something this insane on a daily basis and live to talk about it!
Much thanks and applause to the PBR for such a great show!!
